Stunning isn't!
Mofam – Dug has been trying to get me there for the last 5 or so years. Always nagging me to go and have a look at how another ski-place do their thing.
The Elani River Resort Committee was invited to go and spend a night at Mofam! I was the representative from the family side since Mandy had to milk Bella and Kobus had to count his sheep every day. So I packed my bags and set off for the big Vuvuzela City. Tallies picked me up & off we went to Elgin to spend a night at Mofam.
Nobody really knew what to expect. On the way there, Mofam was discussed over & over in the Land-rover & we just could not see ……..
……… what Dug’s fascination was with this place. We’ll you have to do yourself a favour and go visit the place just to see what can be done out of hills and a wee bit of water.

Our Rooms.
They must have spend a small fortune to get the place looking like that. In the middle of the hills is this little place. Or not little as they have 10 Cottages / Rooms and some self catering cottages on the rivers edge. A lovely bar & restaurant. Extremely friendly staff & a dog or two. This really is peaceful. I take it in summer it must be a beehive of activity but winter is peaceful. Sitting on the little wooden deck outside my room just watching the water with not a breath of wind. Just a little chill in the air, but that is to be expected – it’s winter.
Arriving there, Dug immediately took us to our cottages. Then of course – we went to the bar. What else – it’s cold and not likely that any of us packed in our swimming gear! We were still sitting on the veranda when the sun ducked behind one of the hills and immediately we could feel the cold. We opted for the fire place outside but soon enough discover that the one inside the restaurant / bar area was a lot more efficient than the outside one.
At first I left them outside and joined Tallies in the bar where we obviously introduced the Misverstand Jagabom to them. Soon there was a shortage of twisty glasses but not to worry as Neitjie did pack in extras so I went to my room to fetch some more. Luckily we had a good stomach liner from the dinner served – delicious tomato soup, soft juicy Leg of lamb with rice & veggies and dessert was served. The rest is history and can only be discussed in a personal capacity with the attendees.
My sincere apologies to the only surviving staff member of Mofam for keeping her up so late. Unfortunately for her I did not take my mom with, otherwise we all would have been in bed by ten past twelve!
Thanx again to Dug for the invite and to everyone at Mofam for your hospitality, your great place, your excellent food, your delicious drinks and making our stay ever so pleasant.
Cheers
