Skippers & Buoyancy

Skippers - Take Note!
Hi-ho Skippers,
We received and still receive lots of calls regarding skipper licenses & buoyancy. I know that you are getting fed-up with not knowing when exactly this all is taking effect.
We “got the t-shirt” for trying to organize courses for skippers. You can call SAMSA for skippers courses.
Buoyancy contractors there is also millions now in Cape Town. Each one charging a different rate & I have no idea which one to recommend to you.

July 2009 - Beautiful
At present we do not check for skippers or buoyancy but knowing the government this time will come soon. I know that at other dams they are definitely checking and they are extremely strict from what I’ve heard via the grapevines. Please note that Skippers Licenses is in affect & can be policed at any time.
The only thing that we do request from you is the licencing of your boat with West Coast District Council – these licenses you can purchase at your arrival at the Club Elani Office. Please remember once a licence is purchased that you stick this onto your boat & trailer as we cannot replace the WCDC licence other than issuing a new one which you would have to pay for.
Currently if you want to be on the right side of the law at Misverstand we require:
- A WCDC licence
- A red flag
- A life jacket for the person ski-ing, tubing or whatever they are doing behind the boat.
- A responsible person in charge of the boat at all times
- You must know what “anti-clockwise” is!

Tranquility at it's best!
We would suggest for your own piece of mind that you slowly but surely get your stuff in order so as not to be caught with your pants down and your boat dry!
For the rest – the weather is lovely, the water is lonely and we are all just waiting for your arrival to come and share this piece of beautiful nature with us.
Good luck for the season.
Cheers
Caren
