Skippers License
Hi to all Skippers,
If you are already legal – this is not for you. If not please refer to Mandy’s letter to all members informing them of the issue with the Skippers rules & regulations:
Hi Guys,
As some of you have probably heard, or have been caught on the water without Skipper’s Licenses last week, the SAPS Diving Unit has just come around for a visit and has informed us that they will be doing “spot checks” on all water vessels at all recreational dams from now onwards.
You need to have all your things (Skippers, Survey, Safety Equipment, etc) in place from now onwards in order to launch your boat from our slip way. We will also request, for those that do not have their boats registered, that they need to give us a copy of their skippers and boat survey certificates before purchasing their annual licenses.
I think the best is to send me your copy of Skipper’s and boat surveys so that I can keep it here for you should you need it and might have forgotten it at home, if you have done so already, please confirm with me that I have received it.
Those that are not in possession of a Skipper’s License, please visit the below website for further details and to get the process going, it is now LAW to have a Skippers.
For Boat Surveys, you can contact any of the boat shops ie. Waterworld, Andy’s Boat Shop, etc.
Unfortunately, we will not be offering this service due to lack of interest, it is your responsibility to have Skippers, Survey and necessary requirements for your boat and kept on your boat at all times.
The SAPS Diving Unit does have the right to fine and/or remove you from the water should you not have the necessary documentation and requirements.
The two guys that were here now, are very serious, they don’t seem to take well to jokes, so please when they do approach you on the water be friendly and understanding.
And lastly, all of us at Club Elani wish you a very prosperous and Happy New Year.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon!
Kind regards,
Mandy
