Around around in circles

They are on my case all the time for news – the latest one was – “You still know what a Blog is, don’t you?”

I’m sure that I am not the only one suffering at work with all these holidays.  Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy having you guys here during the week it’s just that the days that’s left got so little hours in it that I don’t seem to catch up with the back log.    But enough moaning & groaning it’s Friday and I will see a whole lot of you today.  The weekend is packed and the Koringsaal is ready for action.

Easter was as usual fun & games from the beginning till the end.  We opened with Happy Hour on Thursday evening and Swarries was so packed that we moved ……..

the crowd to Oesaf by 9 o’clock.  Met al daai spasie het sommiges sommer begin opskop & ‘n paar draaie is gegooi op die dansvloer – net so tussen deur die tafels wat nog gepak was vir die laaste konferensie.  Rooikappie was a bietjie “under the wheather” maar ons het darem nie baie later as 12 toegemaak nie.

Potjiekos fires going

Potjiekos was al wat gepraat was Vrydag.  Ons ou gewone 10 inskrywingtjies moes ons uitbrei na 15 en met die meeste wat tradisie behou het en aangetrek het, het ons sommer baie sports gehad.  Mandy was soos gewoonlik weer helemal ‘n mal hoender en as sy nie iemand se ingredients steel nie, dan neuk sy spices in ‘n ander se  pot.   Die groot neukery vanjaar het gekom toe die Mafai se kinders hulle bure se groente gesteel het, Mandy het gelukkig gou ingespring en weer vir die mannetjie groente verskaf.  Die Kaal kokke was ook stilweg baie aktief en het rondgesluip tussen die potte op soek na …….. wie weet wat.  Die judges het ook te hore gekom van Tannies wat kruie ingesmokkel het in plekke wat ons nie mag “gesearch” het nie maar ons kon hulle nie “catch” nie.

Saturday morning the camp was busy like an ants nest with all the activity & the promise of a lekka party the evening.  Everyone was warming up from early on in Swarries and could not wait for the Koringsaal to open for our Easter Dance.  Remember last year we did not have a party, but this year we outvoted Rooikappie!  The Schlorf’s had their usual train going and Leslee showed us how to really party!  The evening was a huge success and everyone felt it the morning after.

Sunday morning kicked off with Church Service followed by a million kids who pitched up for the Easter Egg Hunt.  Mandy & Kobus had to know their story with this multitude.  The day ended with Wii in the Koringsaal, a couple of older bodies that still had the energy also took part in the Wii but the kids showed us who the games is really made for.   Check out the galary for a couple of lekka pics.

Laas lang naweek was ook lekker prettig met ‘n rustige poker aandjie die Saterdag - Erna was runner vir die tafels en het baie goed gedoen vir ‘n appi waiter – sy’t die manne se glase mooi vol gehou en verskeie klein shots op skinkborde het ook suksesvol die tafels bereik.  Winkie was fotograaf en ek sien sy het al poker foto’s op haar facebook – sal by haar ‘n paar steel sodat julle kan sien. Texas Holdem wenner was Ronnie Human wat met ‘n lekker boerpot weg gestap het en runner-up was Richard Goldstein van die kop wat hom lekka laat sweet het die laaste paar hande.  Duggie & Theo het ewe profesioneel hul tafels dopgehou maar toe die laaste hand gewen word was dit – all hell broke loose and the party started.  T&T’s fed everyone with boeries & burgers and joined the party – needless to say that the next morning very few of the poker party attendees were seen early – some joined us for a drink in the afternoon but Sunday was an early night for most of the camp.

Monday evening we promised all we’ll play poker again but with Dug in bed with a terrible cold we opted for Black Jack with Kobus being the very clever dealer.  Instead of money we played with shots – which worked perfectly for him as we finished quit a couple bottles of Apple Sours – last WOMAN standing was me, Mandy Daddy & Amanda.

Daar is nog baie in die pyplyn vir die jaar – onthou volgende naweek is Moedersdag en ons beplan ‘n aangename High Tea die Saterdag om die dames ‘n rustige daggie af te gee.  Einde van die maand is Ladies Weekend – ek sit nog in beplanning daarvan so watch this space.

ONTHOU ons CANSA – dis 20 jaar die jaar en ons wil baie graag ‘n moerse sukses maak daarvan.  Dit was nog elke jaar groot maar die jaar wil ons onsself oortref en ons kan dit slegs doen met elke man se bietjie bydrae.

En laastens maar definitief nie die minste – Daar is gepubliseer in die Burger dat Dirk Taljaard oorlede is – innige simpatie vir daai familie maar dis nie ons Tallies nie.  Hy is nog springlewend en gesond (behalwe vir die ou rooi wyn voet), het met my eie oë gesien hoe huppel hy hier op die plaas rond.

It short but sweet but I have to go now to start my prep for this weekend – will chat after the Bad Apple – maybe only on Tuesday – might still have after effects on Monday!
