Pragtige Ski-water
Haai almal,

Sunset cruise!
…………. met “Dis ‘tredoe’ man ek sê nou vir jou dis wragtig ‘tredoe’ en ons is al klaar vir Sondag bespreek” En so het ek ge-’tredoe’ oor die Sondag middag etes tot twintig oor twaalf voor ek kon toesluit.
Now, sipping away on a slush puppy in a wine glass, I have great difficulty in deciding what to tell first about this past holiday. In one word I can describe it as “tredoe”! Everything went smoothly, no hick-ups, no unhappy guests, good responsible fun, almost as if everyone remember to pack in their ears and brains for the holidays. For this we only have you guys to thank. You really were an outstanding group from the beginning to the end. Lots of good clean fun was had by all especially our group of 30 youngsters who kept the tent camp alive.
We started the season slowly with a steak buffet which was postponed to a week later due to lack of interest. After that it was all downhill with loads of fun. The Reinecke’s eventually got their

“kiskar” working after almost a year of labour every weekend that the kids was here. I got news from a few proud parents that their kids got on ski’s for the first time. Nic also had success with two kids that he had to teach ski-ing.

Father Christmas came to visit!
Oohh yes and Father Christmas came to visit on the Veranda again with lots of presents for all the kids. It was a whole rumble in the jungle as all the kids tear open presents and started playing. Some kids got tummy aches since that was not exactly what they asked for, but they all had happy faces the next morning. Perhaps the old Father could not carry everything to the stoep and left some surprises at the house or tents.
Christmas lunch was a humongous success with 220 eager beaver faces watching our every move as we put food out. First was the cheese platters and more than half the crowd was extremely cheesed off as this is not the kind of starters that they had in mind. By 16H00 after second and third course was served we still had people dragging themselves

to the dessert table for just that last bit of sweetness. By six we were looking at each waiting for the next big thing to happen as normally we would be prepping for the evening sitting. Well, for the first time in years we took out the cards and all our family, sat around a table playing Sevens until the early hours of the morning. That was just soooo nice. Nobody came to ask for the last bag of ice or smokes.

Dance the old year out.
Toe ek so teen tien uur se kant my verskyning maak was daar omtrent mens.

The night is still young!
That proof of the night before met us 4 hours later when we opened up shop. I must remember for next year to sell headache tablets at a much higher price the morning after. The only inhabitants with colour in their faces was the kids. Wherever you go, you were met with peaks drawn low over the faces, sunglasses, big bottles of water and stories of ” yes and then…….”

Serving another happy guest!
Like in true Misverstand tradition the evening of the first we had the bokdrol spoeg competition, that I missed, but I heard the laughter and sports on the Veranda. And so, surrounded by family and friends a new year was started at Misverstand.
This year promises to be a good year with lots of fun at Misverstand. All the “First Annual’s” we had last year will repeat themselves this year, hopefully with a bit more attendance. We will kick off in Feb with a Valentine Dance followed by a delicious Sunday Valentine Buffet. With Easter around the corner, May the Ladies weekend, June the Family Quad Weekend and July Cansa this is going to be one exciting year. Keep your eyes on the calender for fun events right through the year.

New year morning - still looking for the guy!
